Equipment

Ingredients

For the Yogurt-Mint Sauce

  • 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 2 teaspoons chopped fresh mint
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper

For the Gyros

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon Greek seasoning or Italian seasoning
  • 1 pound steak of choice thinly sliced
  • 4 flatbreads or pocketless pitas warmed if desired
  • 1 cup sliced red onion
  • 1/2 cup cherry tomatoes or grape tomatoes, sliced
  • Crumbled feta cheese

Instructions

  • To make the yogurt-mint sauce, in a medium bowl, combine the yogurt, mint, oregano, and paprika. Mix well and season to taste with salt and black pepper. Set aside.
  • Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-low heat. Add the steak and cook for 2 to 3 minutes, until you reach your desired level of doneness. Add the Greek seasoning (or Italian seasoning) and cook for 1 minute, until the herbs are fragrant.
  • Spread some of the yogurt mixture on the flatbreads (or pocketless pitas). Top with the steak, red onion, tomatoes, and feta. Serve with extra yogurt sauce on the side.
