Instructions
Brown the beef in a large skillet over medium-high heat. If necessary, drain away excess fat.
Add the onion, mushrooms, and garlic to the pan and cook for 3 to 5 minutes, until the onion and mushrooms are tender.
Add 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/4 teaspoon black pepper, and the thyme and stir to coat. Add the flour and tomato paste and stir to coat.
Add the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce and bring to a simmer, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan.
Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 10 to 15 minutes, until the sauce thickens to a gravy-like consistency. Season to taste with salt and black pepper.
Serve over mashed potatoes, noodles, rice, or your favorite grain.
