Savory ground beef, scented with onion, garlic, oregano, and basil, and simmered in a parmesan-spiked tomato sauce. Topped with heaps of gooey mozzarella and served in less than 20 minutes.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper

  • 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese, plus more for serving
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Chopped fresh parsley or basil for serving, optional

Equipment

Instructions

  • Brown the beef in a large skillet over medium-high heat, breaking up the meat as it cooks. Add the garlic, basil, oregano, onion powder, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and 1/4 teaspoon black pepper and stir to coat. Cook for 1 minute, until the herbs are fragrant.
  • Add the tomato sauce and bring to a simmer. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 10 minutes. Fold in the parmesan cheese and cook for 1 minute. Season to taste with salt and black pepper. Top the beef mixture with the mozzarella, cover with foil or a lid and remove the pan from the heat. Let stand for a few minutes to melt the cheese.
